About

Builder, backend engineer, and careful systems thinker.

The short version: I like useful software, boring reliability, and learning in public without oversharing private work.

Puvaan Raaj

I’m Puvaan Raaj, a software engineer from Malaysia. My center of gravity is backend engineering: APIs, queues, workers, observability, infrastructure, and tools that make engineering teams faster.

The previous version of this site listed too many implementation details from company work. This rebuild turns that into a cleaner professional narrative: payment infrastructure, cloud modernization, platform reliability, developer productivity, and AI/security experiments.

Outside work, I build small tools to understand big ideas. Receipt parsing teaches product privacy. A password generator becomes a post-quantum crypto lab. A document converter becomes a lesson in OCR, layout, and user trust.

Experience

The work story, safely summarized.

Now

Software Engineer, backend and platform work

Working on production backend systems in the payments space: APIs, workers, queues, integrations, reliability, observability, and cloud modernization. The public version stays intentionally high-level so private implementation details remain private.

2024 - 2025

Recognized for impact and quiet ownership

Received Fiuu Rising Star recognition in Q4 2024 and Unsung Hero recognition in Q4 2025, which is a good summary of the work style: learn quickly, ship steadily, support the team, and take ownership behind the scenes.

Before that

Self-learning, mentorship, and real systems

Grew through a mix of self-study, strong mentors, internship work, cloud exposure, backend architecture, card-payment domain learning, and the habit of asking a lot of questions until the system makes sense.
